Our horror movie
For our movie, we have decided to go with the genre horror. We have decided to do horror because the best movie pitch idea that we had and agreed on, was dealing with horror. Also doing a horror movie seemed to be the easiest in terms of what we need to do it , such as props, costumes etc. The other two genres that we had in mind, which were dance and adventure; we will not be doing them. This is because the common things needed to make a dance and adventure film, seems to be out of reach for us. For example, for dance we would need dancers and we don't know any. For, adventure we would need certain sounds to make the adventure seem more natural with its background; we may not find a place to do so.

The two genres we are not doing are dance and action.

Research blog
We we’re giving a film genre Dance for a research project. We had to find the common mid-en scene, lighting, camera angles and shots of a dance films. Then, we had to add what we add the good and bad elements of these films. After we we’re finished the research, we added pictures and GIF into the background of these slides. Each slide has some kind of dance film or dance influencer. This project has impacted the way we look at genre and films. It also makes us look for the common angles, lighting, and etc.

Final 2 pitches
We have finally narrowed it down to 2 pitches. Ones an adventure and ones a horror. The adventure one starts with a old guy talking and rocking in his rocking chair. The camera starts winding up to him. He will still be talking as the camera is winding up to him. Once it gets to him he will say “ and the adventure begins.” The horror pitch will start with to people walking. They will walk past a wanted sign. One of them will pick up there phone. As he’s on his phone his friend will get killed. He will look around then also get killed; it will then zoom into the wanted sign.
We are doing the horror movie. We are doing this because we will be able to do it well. We also have all the features for it. We can make a wanted sign. We also have 2 people to play the civilians. We have someone to do the killer. The plot also leaves you wondering who the killer is and what he is wanted. Since you won’t be able to see his face. You might also wonder why he killed the two people. You will keep watching the movie because you want to know stuff.
The adventure pitch, which is about an old man narrating an adventure; is a good pitch for this assignment but we decided that we will not use it. It is a good pitch because the idea was for the beginning of the movie to start with the old guy, narrating a journey to come. And as he’s talking it would be some boys making their way to where the old guy is the whole time. When they got there he would say “the adventure begins”, and it would end there. This would’ve been great because it would’ve gotten the audience engaged in what the adventure would be, and it wouldn’t be a trailer. But it cannot be used because we wouldn’t be able to find an old man, and we don’t have a set place to where we would film.
The horror pitch, which is about a wanted guy who escapes and kills: is a great pitch for this assignment because it would build suspense. When the idea came to us it was pretty clear that this was most likely going to be it. This pitch is fairly simple and doesn’t require much. We could easily find a place to film, A place like the park or a dark area is perfect. Also,it only requires 3-4 people, that would include the wanted killer, the two friends, and a cameraman. Another great thing about this is that, the end of the 2 minutes will most likely leave the audience wondering. In the movie, when the two friends walk away and the killer shows up, they will be wondering what happens next. Therefore unlike a short film, there is no end; but it's only just the beginning of what's coming. The only thing that can cause any change of plans would be the weather.
Finally starting the final task
The first pitch we have is an adventure pitch. It’s about an old man rocking in an old wooden chair narrating/ foreshadowing what is to come in the film. The entire time the old man is talking, the camera is winding its way to him. The camera will stop sometimes and show some kind of item of relevance to what the old man is saying. When the camera gets to him he sits there finishing up his narration then says “the adventure begins.”
The second pitch is a horror pitch. It starts with a woman running away from a creature. She finds her way to the bathroom as she’s running. Hides in a stall with the creature that walks into the bathroom; the creature starts looking in every stall then kills her and she drops an item.
The third pitch we have is two people are walking and see a wanted poster. One of the friends gets taken and killed when the other one is on their phone; the friend looks around for of relevance to what the old man is saying. When the camera gets to him he sits there finishing up his narration then says “the adventure begins.”Monday, December 2, 2019
filiming
Over the break we had to film. we had to film about many things. The first thing was water. Somebody found a lake and filmed the water. We had to do things like this. We didn't get together to film because it was to inconvenient. It also didn't go with our music video. Are music video was about the different things in the world and how they are wonderful. So if we were in the music video ad were dancing it wouldn't have worked that well. We decided to film different things separately. I had to film flowers. you make think that they would be easy to find. While I was driving with my family I was looking. I also brought my phone to most places just incase I saw some nice flowers there. There wasn't really any flowers. If I did see some flowers they were very ugly. I also kinda forgot. We also had thanksgiving and everything. I kept on looking and asked my family if they saw any nice flowers if they could take a quick video for me. I waited for a day or two. Then I started to keep a way better lookout myself. I took my dog on a walk hoping i'll see some then. When we were passing the lake I stopped to take a video of some water because that's another thing we need. We kept on walking and some some flowers but they were not the best so we kept looking. We found some nice ones and took a quick video. Then as we were almost done looking we finally found some. I looked a bit like a weirdo but I knew it was for a school project so I didn't really care. I got the video and went back home. I looked over the videos. Some were bad but luckily I took more then one. We some some good ones which meant I was done.

storyboard.
For this part of the music video process, we were assigned to create our the making storyboards. We must use at least 15 boxes. The song that we will be using is "What a wonderful world" by Louis Armstrong. Most of the lyrics of this song involves us to be outside in nature. The idea for this music video is for us to do the action of what the lyrics States. By doing this we must film different angles and movements and shots of what the song lyrics say. This has been the challenging part for us to do.As of right now we do not have angles and shots for all the slides yet, so for the ones that do not have them, when its time to film we have to decide on them on the spot. The storyboard begins with an establishing shot and pan of a forest or wooded area. The second box is a pan of trees and a low angle of roses. That is all we really have as of right now, when we start filming we will decide on them. The angles, shots and movement will depend on the lyrics of the song. For this project the only sounds that will be heard are the song audio. We still could add some sounds like diegetic and non diegetic, but as of right now we'll just stick with the audio. There is no costume in our project, because our song selection is not like other songs where people must dance. Our song is about the wonderful things scene in our planet; a lot of the lyrics is things that are seen outside in nature. The only instance where there would be a costume involved is when in the song there is a lyric that says "i see friends shaking hands saying how do you do". for something like that we could have two people wearing dress clothes or casual clothes. As of right now we will not have costumes. The lighting of the music video will not be too much. The lighting will be natural: things like the sun and the moon that gives out natural light, will be the lighting design. The only acting that will be seen in our music video is the bit where the friends will be shaking hands and saying how do you do. And or the baby crying but that's not really acting. There will not be any makeup because once again there aren't going to be much people in our video, majority of the film will be shots of nature. No props will be needed for our music video. The setting will depend on the lyrics of the song, so if the lyrics mention a house then we would film in a house. So based on the lyrics majority of the settings will be outside which is where most of the filming will be done. We are excited to do this music video, the only downfall is that it is to be longer than the commercial we did which will take more time.
